Sweden India Memorial Quiz

The Pune leg of the 11th Sweden India Memorial Quiz was held on 4th August 2017. More than a hundred teams from colleges in Pune and constituents of Symbiosis International University, including SIIB, participated. The quiz was designed to test the knowledge of the participating teams on- inter alia- Sweden, its culture, music and food. There were questions on the Nobel Laureates since Sweden is most famously associated with the Nobel Prize. The winner of the Pune leg would get a chance to represent Pune at the final round that is to be held on October 11 in New Delhi. The winner of the New Delhi Round will get an all-expense paid trip to Sweden where they would visit facilities of leading Swedish firms.

The quiz was conducted in two rounds; the first round was a preliminary round in which teams had to write a total of twenty five questions within a time frame of for five minutes. The standard of the competition was really high and teams battled it out to grab the top six positions. The six teams with the highest score advanced to the next round. The final round saw five stages of the quiz in which teams were tested with their knowledge. The quiz was designed in such a manner that all teams and the audience were involved. By the fifth round, Symbiosis Law School and College of Engineering Pune were locked neck to neck with a point separating the teams. The last round, a buzzer round, saw National Institute of Technology, Goa take an early lead. But, College of Engineering Pune took over and built a big enough lead to come out victorious.

The Quiz ended with the Consul of Sweden, Mr. Jan Westlind, Deputy Director Dr. Prakash Rao and Prof. Rajesh Jawajala, Faculty-in-charge, SPARSH felicitating the winners. The Consul-General and the host expressed their gratitude at the hospitality of SIIB and the audience for the turnout of the event. As the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Quiz rolls on to the next destination Ahmedabad, Pune wishes its representative, College of Engineering, Pune the very best and hopes that they achieve their dreams.
