Sankranti Celebration 2020

Makara Sankranthi is a harvest festival celebrated all over India with different names. On this day people thank the Sun God for a good harvest and offer the first grain to him. On Makara Sankranthi, the sun enters the sun-sign of Capricorn or Makara (the Indian rashi). The word 'Sankranthi' signifies the movement of the sun from one zodiac sign to another. Thus, the name of the festival literally means the movement of the sun into Capricorn.

The Telugu family of SIC is organizing Sankranthi celebration in SIC Campus on 7th January 2020. We will start by seeking divine blessings by performing "Pooja" in the morning, followed by a "Special Lunch" in the afternoon, cultural programs and Bhogi Mantalu(Camp Fire) in the evening.
