New India Pledge
To mark the 75th year of 'Quit India Movement' and 70th year of India's Independence, Student’s Activity Team (SPARSH) of SIIB organised ‘New India Pledge’ on 9th August, 2017 in the SIIB auditorium. In order to commemorate the great events and sacrifices of our revered freedom fighters, the Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission directed to undertake various activities in the month of August 2017, beginning with the ‘New India Pledge’.
The students and faculty gathered in the auditorium at 9:30a.m sharp, followed by an address by the Director - Dr. Asmita Chitnis. She congratulated the Government for taking such an initiative and making us aware about the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. She also emphasized that we should respect our great leaders, take the pledge and bring it in our actions as well.
Everyone was asked to stand up and recite the oath in both Hindi and English language. The ‘New India Pledge’ talked about building a new India by 2022. In order to achieve that, India should work towards freedom from poverty, dirt, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism.
