HR CONCLAVE 2017
In today’s dynamic business world, emotional intelligence is often used as a predictor of success of employees. It has even been argued that EQ precedes IQ when it comes to selecting potential recruits in a firm. Often defined as the ability to identify and manage your emotions as well as the emotions of others, emotional intelligence plays a huge role in creating a vibrant workplace.
Realizing this, the topic for this year’s HR Conclave, organized by the HR Club, HRConnect on 15th July, 2017 was ‘Emotional Intelligence At The Workplace’.
The program started with the lighting of the lamp by the Director, Dr. Asmita Chitnis and the esteemed guests: Mr. B Jagadeesh, Mr. Nitin Shende, Mr Ashutosh Sharma and Ms. Swati Ghan. This was followed by the keynote address by Mr. B Jagadeesh, Director (HR) at Danfoss India. In his highly engrossing and enlightening speech, Mr Jagadeesh spoke about how developing one’s emotional intelligence was the need of the hour. He touched upon how encouraging EQ and being flexible in one’s approach leads to greater productivity.
Following this was the panel discussion, initiated with Ms Swati Ghan, the Senior Manager (Talent Management), Harbinger Group as the Moderator as the Panellists being Mr Ashutosh Sharma, GM – Corporate Human Resources, Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd, Mr. Nitin Shende, Senior GM (HR), People and Org Development, Persistent Systems and Mr. B Jagadeesh himself. In the highly interactive and informative discussion that followed, the panelists stressed upon how being emotionally intelligent helps one stay ahead of the curve in their professional lives. This extremely enriching discussion was made even more interactive by the participation of the enthused SIIB students who sought to get their queries clarified.
The program seamlessly came to an end with the Vote of Thanks offered by Dr. Dharmesh Mishra, Associate Professor, HR Department, SIIB.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the HR Conclave 2017 was as extremely enlightening experience for the students, the faculties and the guests alike; a memory to be cherished for the years to come.
