SIIB FOUNDATION DAY
The ambience at SIIB couldn’t have been more scintillating than the 11th of July, 2016 when SIIB stepped into yet another year of glory, celebrating its 24th birthday. The most awaited event of the year, the Foundation Day, which, metaphorically, heralds the new session at SIIB was yet again, relished by the students and the faculties alike.
Beginning with the lighting of the lamp by the Director, Dr. Asmita Chitnis, the Deputy Director, Dr. Prakash Rao, Pt. Subhash Dasakkar and Pt. Arvind Kumar Azad ; the programme progressed with a lyrical lucidity into a myriad of enticing musical performances. The eminent living legend of music, Pt. Arvind Kumar Azad was invited with his team to conduct the concert which was an intricate blend of classical serenity and western freshness.
The concert began with a Tabla Jugalbandi by Krishna Vidhate and Vaibhav Jadhav with Harmonium support by Tejash Padilla, a performance which gave goosebumps to the audience. This was followed by another jaw-dropping Jugalbandi of Harmonium and Keyboard by the father- daughter duo, Pt. Subhash Dasakkar and Ishwari Dasakkar with Pt. Arvind Kumar Azad accompanying them on the Tabla. This performance was so buoyant and yet so powerful that not only the audience but the succeeding performers also turned numb. Last but far from the least, the idea of “music that touches the soul” was brought to life with the classical-western fusion performance by the band, “Amrutansh”. The programme was hosted beautifully by Gauri Swakul.
The programme was enjoyed by the audience: this would, definitely, be an understatement. It could rather be described as a beautiful memory imprinted on the hearts and minds of the audience for eternity.
