On the 8th of August 2020, the students of International Business Batch 2019-21 witnessed an insightful virtual interaction with Mr. Tarunesh Mathur. He spoke about how Schindler India is handling the coronavirus crisis and leveraging the immense opportunities that there are to drive their business growth as a result of which the organization is growing at twice the normal growth rate. He focused on various supply chain topics, how Schindler is keeping pace with the unorganized sector following a mix of Globalization and Regionalization business models. He also gave a touchstone on key priorities of leaders and how effective leadership should be like in order to run an organization smoothly and steadily.
Mr. Mathur began with a brief summary of the global presence of Schindler and its market share in urban mobility in India along with its values which mainly revolve around safety, quality, integrity, trust and long term success. According to him, Covid19 has altered the international system to a great extent which will see the balance of power and influence being realigned. He spoke about how Schindler has been a frontline warrior in these testing times with better connectivity, better ingenuity focusing on customer service through predictive analytics rather than just diagnosis.
Lastly, Mr. Mathur gave the students a touchstone about leadership qualities during this pandemic situation and also how would leadership skills shape up in the post covid19 scenario.
Overall, Mr. Mathur gave a holistic view of how his organization is tackling the pandemic situation both from technical and managerial perspectives. He told the students to take this period as an opportunity to up skill/reskill themselves and be mentally strong.
