Lecture Title: Energy Conservation Day
Symbiosis Institute of International Business was pleased to welcome Mr. Ramesh Paranjpey, for a Guest Lecture on 17th December, 2018. Mr. Ramesh Paranjpey is a fellow life member of ASRAE and Chairman, ISHRAE Technical Group Refrigeration.
The event started with a welcome note delivered by Director, Dr. Asmita Chitnis and Dy. Director Dr. Prakash Rao gave an insight on how energy conservation day was started to celebrate in SIIB with the esteemed guidance of Prof. Dhananjay Gandhe, Chairman, Prerna Energy Society.
Mr. Paranjpey introduced the students of Energy and Environment to the topic “Energy Efficiency in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration”. He described refrigeration and air conditioning as a utility. He explained fields of utilizations and also the consumption of energy by the systems. He stressed upon the global warming potential refrigerants and alternate long-time solutions.
He guided the young minds to start using natural refrigerants such as Ammonia, CO2 and hydrocarbons in refrigeration and air conditioning systems to achieve greener and sustainable future. He ended the session with a thought-provoking note “Nature has solution for every problem and is the source of ultimate technology”.
The students had an extremely positive reaction towards the end of the guest lecture as was obvious from the drawing in Q&A session with Mr. Ramesh Paranjpey. Summing everything up in a vote of thanks by Prof. Dhananjay Gandhe and Dr. Prakash Rao, explained how the students were inspired to think optimistically towards the various issues and sooner or later, certain guidelines would be implemented by Government of India with respect to Energy conservation in the field of Air conditioning and Refrigeration.
