Guest Lecture by CRISIL

The senior batch of Finance and junior batch of MBA-IB attended a guest lecture by Mr. Mitul Doshi and Mr. Karthik PH, Director and Associate Director of GR&A, Financial Research at CRISIL. CRISIL, a subsidiary of S&P Global, is a global analytical company and a provider of ratings, risk solutions and advisory. It assists asset managers and investment banks in equity research and economic strategies. Mr. Mitul explained the many value propositions for employees and the improvements they need to make for being successful at CRISIL. Mr. Karthik continued with an enlightening course on ‘What makes a good analyst?”. He described the various stages of approach to equity research, namely, seeking and collecting data, gaining proficiency, looking behind the obvious, formulating an opinion, developing sustainability of returns and directing valuation gaps. Mr. Mitul further explained how technology is redefining and multi-faceting the research analytics landscape. He also quoted that “a good research analyst is the one who exhibits diligence in collecting data and seeking answers to the right questions”. The session concluded as the speakers gave pointers on the challenges faced by today’s companies and markets, when students expressed their queries.
