AGRI-SUMMIT REPORT 2015
Flagship event of Agri-Business Department, SIIB, commenced on 27/08/2015 and 28/08/2015. Theme for the event was “IMPORT and EXPORT” (NIRVAHATI).
On day 27/08/2015, pre-events like CASO DE STUDIO (case study), Rupantaran (B-Plan) had success. Students from different colleges like IIM Ahmedabad, K J Somaiya participated.
On D-Day 28/08/2015, Dr. Asmita Chitnis, Director, SIIB and Mr. Manas Mohanty (GM, RBI) inaugurated the event. Dr. Asmita Chitnis, Director, SIIB welcomed the guests and participants.
First Speaker for the day, Mr. Manas Mohanty, GM, RBI, gave insights on new trends in agriculture and its challenges. Legacy persists, Mr. Sudhendu Belhekar, Head International Business, Mother’s Recipe Company throw light on export potential of agricultural products in India and Ready to eat trend in different countries like US, UK. Next speaker, Mr. Ajay Kakra, Director, Agri & Natural Resources, PwC India talked about opportunities in Agriculture consulting, Monitoring and Evaluation in Agricultural sector whereas Mr. Sairam Subramanian, Senior Project Manager, Techno serve, India gave information about integrated & collaborative value chain model, Mr. Dhananjay Edakhe, CEO, PlantBiotix, Zytex Biotech talked about Bio-fertilizers, Bio-Pesticides, Stimulants, Audience enthralled when Mr. Prafull Talera, CEO, Dynamic Logistics addressed them talking about importance of food, food security and relating it with logistics.
After the break, Panel discussion held, in which Dr. Sudhanshu (DGM,APEDA) spoke on government initiatives on agri-exports, Mr. Roshan Shah (V.P, Jain Irrigation) discussed food processing, contract farming, UHDP technique of growing fruit crops),Mr. Ashish Gaur(Head-Audit & Certification, Food Services, Intertek talked about certifications on food standards like organic certifications, FSSC 22000 etc.
Later on panel speakers took questions from students. At last, Ms. Ketaki Barve, Assistant Professor, Agri-Business Department, SIIB, gave vote of thanks to all participants, guests and congratulated students on grand success of Agri-Summit 2015 and wished to continue the legacy. Also, vote of thanks to our sponsors and participants of the event.
