Anusmruti - The annual alumni reunion of Symbiosis Institute of International Business
Anusmruti - the annual alumni reunion of Symbiosis Institute of International Business was organized on 4th January, 2020. The event marked the homecoming for the alumni as they revisited old bonds, reconnected with their friends and returned to their Alma Mater.
The event commenced in the morning with a session wherein five of our esteemed alumni namely, Mr. Abhijat Shukla, Founder & CEO, ThinkBumblebee, Ms. Jasmeet Walia, Co-Founder, Khel Mein Foundation and Mr. Noel Farrao, Vice President, Olam International Ltd., from Batch 1998-2000 along with Ms. Bhavna Mishra, Founder, BM Curations and Mr. Piyuesh Modi, Director & Co-Founder, PagePotato from Batch 2008-10 engaged in a panel discussion. The alumni shared anecdotes from their time at SIIB and the students sought their guidance regarding their experience in the world of entrepreneurship as well as the skills required to flourish in the professional world.
Every year, two batches act as the hosts for Anusmruti, to commemorate 20 and 10 years of their graduation respectively. This year, the host batches were 1998-2000 and 2008-2010. All the other alumni were invited as the guest batches.
The evening session was graced by the benevolent presence of dignitaries, Dr. Rajani Gupte, Vice-Chancellor, Symbiosis International Deemed University and Dr. Asmita Chitnis, Director, SIIB. The event progressed with Prof. Godbole, a revered faculty member, addressing the alumni as he shared his fond memories of mentoring his former students. Among the faculty, Dr. Viraja Bhatt also shared her thoughts with the guests.
This was followed by the felicitation of the host and the guest batches with a token of gratitude being presented by Dr. Gupte and Director Ma’am.
Mr. Akshaya Gujral, batch of 1997-99, Managing Director, ArcelorMittal was felicitated with the Sarvashreshtha Award, for his unparalled achievements in his field of endeavor. The Udyami Award was also conferred upon Mr. Geet Bhalla, batch of 1998-2000, Co-founder, HolidayMe, to salute his entrepreneurial spirit.
Following the award ceremony, the cultural extravaganza began and the students and alumni alike were enthralled by the soulful tunes, captivating theatrical productions and electric dance performances organized by the present students of SIIB. The host batches then proceeded for the cake cutting.
It was indeed a privilege to host the alumni at the place they once called their home. At the end of the day, as the last goodbyes were exchanged, those wistful smiles and nostalgic eyes bore testament to the bonds they shared with their Alma Mater. Anusmruti’20 was indeed a memorable event, one that the alumni as well as the students will cherish for years to come.
