Symbiosis Institute of International Business was proud to welcome Mr. Folker Mittag- Member, Caux Initiatives for Business (CIB), for a Guest Lecture on ‘International Controlling including all ethical questions ‘on 17 th November, 2017 at SIIB auditorium, Pune.
The event initiated with felicitation of Mr. Mittag by Director Asmita Chitnis post which he took the centre stage and explained about the concepts behind ‘Controlling’ and ‘Business Controlling’. He explained about the various issues that arise in Business Controlling which include cultural difference, dialectic difference, work-ethics difference etc.
In an entertaining yet educative interactive session, Mr. Mittag focussed on pragmatic experiences from his own professional life and correlated the concepts of ‘controlling’ and ‘value’ along the way. He also advocated the intricacies of working in cross-cultural environment and the challenges put-forth by it, thereby suggesting a need to have a flexible approach and a sensible view on the same.
Mr. Mittag also focussed on listening to our own inner voice whenever a sense of dilemma occurs. This helps in judgment and encourages articulate thinking at the time of making critical decisions. He also stated that experience and values combined will decide in drawing out work from the resources through a polite manner or a rather forced manner.
The session was a highly enriching one where he spoke about different challenges in the sphere of International Controlling and the various ethical and moral dilemmas one faces in the controlling process. We thank Mr. Mittag for taking his time out and providing students a great opportunity to learn more on World Leadership and Corporate Governance.
