Guest Lecture by Mr. Anand Pawar

The batch of 2018-2020 attended a lecture on substance abuse on the 30 th July 2018. The lecture was given by Mr. Anand Pawar. Mr. Pawar is the executive director of SAMYAK, an NGO based in Pune, He’s also a male gender trainer and an activist involved with women’s and men’s groups working towards gender equality and a violence free society. He’s also an active member of the South Asian Network to Address Masculinities (SANAM), and one of the Asia Board Members of the Women’s Peace Makers (WPP). He participated in the popular television show “Satyamev Jayate” and was part of the episode on domestic violence. He taught the students about why drugs should not be consumed, its legal implications and the various ways to avoid drugs. The lecture enlightened the students on how pandemic the drug problem was, what addiction relapse could do to a person and that there is no justification to drug use. The students can learn to implement this in their life, and propagate this message to the society.
