As invisible strands of memory
Tug hard at the delicate chords of the heart,
The soul revels in the spirit of nostalgia,
And with a smile youthful,
Becomes innocuously young again
Anusmruti—the annual alumni reunion was organized by the SIIB Alumni Relations Team on 6th Jan, 2018. The event marked the homecoming for all the alumni as they revived the old bonds, reconnected with their friends and returned to their Alma Mater.
The event commenced in the morning with a lively interaction wherein 4 of our esteemed alumni namely, Mr. Anirudha Joshi, batch of 1996-98, Business Development Manager at ESTECO Software India Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Nitin Jindal, batch of 2006-08, Analyst at Goldman Sachs, Mr. Saurabh Maini, batch of 2006-08, Trade Category Manager for Skin Category in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and Mr. Aniket Raj Agarwal, batch of 2006-08, General Manager, SCM at Trident Ltd. had a panel discussion. The alumni shared anecdotes from their time at SIIB and the student managers sought their guidance about the dos and don’ts of the professional world.
Every year, there are 2 host batches for Anusmruti, to commemorate 20 and 10 years of their graduation respectively. This year, the host batches were 1996-1998 and 2006-2008. All the other alumni were invited as guest batches.
The evening session was graced with the benevolent presence of dignitaries Dr. Neelesh Kumbhojkar, Director, Symbiosis Centre for Alumni Engagement, Mr. Dilip Thosar CEO, Symbiosis Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Dr. Asmita Chitnis, Director, SIIB.
The event progressed with Prof. Godbole, a revered faculty member, addressing the alumni as he shared his fond memories of mentoring his former students. This was followed by felicitation of the host batches and guest batches with a token of gratitude being presented by Director ma’am and Dr. Prakash Rao sir.
It was indeed a pleasure to honour a deserving alumnus Mr. Amit Aggarwal, leader of Business Process Improvement at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, of batch 2002-04, with Sarvashreshtha Award, for his unparalleled achievements in his field of endeavour. We also conferred the Udyami Award upon Mr. Navneet Grover, Founder, Grospinz Fabs Ltd. to salute his entrepreneurial spirit.
Following the award ceremony, the cultural extravaganza began and the students and alumni alike grooved to the tunes of melodious music and enjoyed dance performances. The host batches then proceeded for cake cutting.
Our alumni are the custodians of our heritage and true heirs to the rich legacy of SIIB. It was indeed a privilege to host them at the place they once called their home. At the end of the day, as the last goodbyes were exchanged, those wistful smiles and nostalgic eyes bore testament to the bonds they shared with their Alma Mater. Anusmruti’18 was indeed a memorable event, one that we all shall cherish for a long time to come.
