On the 8th of August 2020, the students of International Business Batch 2019-21 attended a guest lecture by Mr. Aditya Pal Singh, Head Talent Acquisition India, Informatica Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. In his speech, Mr Singh touched upon the importance of employee retention in today’s world and how companies should go about the process of building the future workforce to facilitate a reduction in attrition rates and result in a boost in employee productivity and creativity. He proceeded to address the most trending debate around the need for employee monitoring software – whether or not they are necessary for keeping a tab on employee productivity during Covid times - stating that Informatica does not invest in such tools. Their primary focus is to build a relationship with the employees based on trust. He discussed the need for inculcating skills that are necessary to adapt with the changing global work scenarios and the key areas that corporates are working on to attract the right talent to their companies. In this context, he discussed Martec’s Law which indicates that even with exponential change in technology, organizational changes follow a logarithmic path. Then he went on to discuss the several virtual trainings his organization is focussing upon to upskill the employees and focus on their growth. The guest lecture was followed by a Q&A session where he answered questions ranging from companies adapting to work from home to employee retention during post-Covid times.
