MRA Camp
The curriculum at SIIB strives not only to achieve excellence in academics but also to encompass every aspect of life. To augment the emotional intelligence, students were sent for a four-day camp at the Moral Re-Armament (MRA) at the Asia Plateau, Panchgani which is now known as Initiatives of Change. “Be the Change you want to see in the World”, this famous quote of Mahatma Gandhi is the principle on which this institute has been founded. It believes that even a small positive change in a person can greatly affect his surroundings and his environment for the better.
The participants were encouraged to introspect and rediscover themselves and aim for better interpersonal relations. IOC provides a spiritual refuge from today’s breakneck speed of life in which travails, tribulations, tensions and anxieties have become daily issues that one needs to contend with. All these problems tend to disappear at IOC in their spiritual habitat of peace and purity. Here the whiffs of breeze flowing through a medley of trees, plants and flowers are a panacea for all worldly ills, ailments and afflictions. The people are motivated to bring a change within society, starting with themselves.
The camp tries to instill a sense of accountability and responsibility in an individual for his actions and the impact that they have on others around him. At the same time, the camp also helps a person in developing better interpersonal skills which are greatly necessary for becoming a successful and co-operative ‘team man’. Social responsibility is yet another dimension which is brought forth here and its relevance to one’s being is effectively communicated.
