Swechha: A
cleanliness drive, an initiative by Symbiosis Institute of
International Business.
‘Cleanliness is indeed next to Godliness’. With this message
the students of MBA-Agri Business of Symbiosis Institute of
International Business (Rajiv Gandhi I.T Park) have set off for
a cleanliness drive in Hinjewadi , ‘the door of the I.T
Park’ between 14th to 19th Oct. The initiative has been
named as ‘Swechha’ which means ‘willful ’. As the name
suggests the students have shown a strong desire to clean the
place and are putting their best efforts. Moreover according to
them the most important task is to create awareness among the
local people so that the impact is long term. They started early
in the morning on 14th of Oct by picking the brooms and dustbins
themselves and cleaning the entire area. After 4 days of
consistent effort there has been an encouraging response from
the local people, who are willing to help the students by
maintaining cleanliness. The students have planned to donate the
dustbins to the shops near the chowk, put motivating stickers
and posters in the shops and talk to the people about the
cleanliness and its benefits.
Students have received appreciation from the
Gram Pradhan who says the step to be wonderful one and is fully
cooperating in the event. There have been appreciation by others
also such as Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena and Infosys who are
willing to join the hands with SIIB students for such ventures
in the future.
The Institute and students are enthusiastic
about the movement and have once again proved to be a
responsible part of the society. Earlier also the Institute has
taken up several community development activities such as
teaching under privileged children, traffic control, planting
trees etc. The Institute is looking forward to having such
activities in future as well that not only helps in community
development but also inculcates a sense of responsibility among
the students.

Traffic
Management at Hinjewadi Chowk
The
Community Development team students are helping the Hinjewadi
Traffic police for traffic regulation at the overcrowded
Hinjewadi Chowk. This exercise makes the students realize the
hardships the traffic police go through during traffic
regularization. The exercise helps them to help the traffic
police but more importantly it helps them to be good citizens
who follow the traffic rules without breaking them and also
young representatives among their peer groups who can make a
large difference in following and maintaining the traffic rules
in a small way.
